  • Lichen simplex (also called Lichen simplex chronicus or Neurodermatitis) is a skin disorder that leads to chronic itching and scratching.
  • This disorder may occur in people who have eczema (atopic dermatitis) or psoriasis.
  • It often occurs with people who are nervous, anxious, depressed, or who have other psychological disorders.
  • It is also common in children, who cannot stop scratching insect bites and other itchy skin conditions.
  • It is often observed in the nape and occipital regions of the scalp.
