13.2.4 Hamilton-Norwood scale: Type 3V

  • Type 3-V (V for ‘vertex’ or ‘crown’) is the stage where the temples have thinned in a similar fashion to Type 3; however, the crown hair is also starting to thin.  The hair in the crown area is becoming shorter and finer, and the scalp is beginning to show through.  Thinning in the mid-frontal area between the temples is also occurring.
