13.2.8 Hamilton-Norwood scale: Type 7

  • Type 7 is the most advanced classification of male pattern alopecia.  Here the existing hair has been reduced to a horseshoe-shaped fringe on the sides and rear of the head.  Only downy-looking vellus hairs are present on the crown or front areas, and most of these are too fine to see.
